McCain pleased with campaign

Yesterday, John McCain told Iowa supports he was happy with his campaign.

Of course, candidates are supposed to expound confidence in their message and campaign, but consider the amount of high-ranking people who have left his campaign this summer:

Campaign manager: Terry Nelson

Chief strategist: John Weaver

Finance Director: Mary Kate Johnson

Research director: Brian Rogers

Senior Aide: Mark Salter

Communications director: Brian Jones

Deputy communications directors: Matt David and Danny Diaz

Iowa state communications director: Tim Miller

Iowa coalitions director: Marlys Popma

Iowa consultants: Ed Failor Jr. and Karen Slifka

South Carolina spokesman: Adam Temple

SC State field director: Josh Robinson

SC Political Director: Brad Henry

There are also reports that his Iowa office is down to half a dozen staffers.  With about $2 million in the bank, it will be hard for McCain to gain momentum against opponents with several times the amount left to spend.

Personally, I wouldn’t be so happy about a campaign who has lost so many key staffers and has such limited funds.
